WHEREAS, the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps of Dubuque, IA has been in existence
since 1963 and this exceptional musical group is ranked as one of the
top 25 in the world for 19 years, and in the Drum Corps International
elite "Top 12" finalist of the past 6 years; and
WHEREAS, these 170 young men and women of the Colts and Colts Cadets have
truly earned the title of "Iowa's Ambassadors of Music" and in a typical
season will appear in over 50 competitions and exhibitions for over
500,000 people, while traveling more than 12,000 miles throughout
North America; and
WHEREAS, over 2500 young people have participated as members of the Colts
program in the last 36 years, learning success and leadership skills.
Also during each year over 750 individuals and businesses make
contTrbutions of time, materials and money to the program and
volunteer time donated is over 15,000 hours; and
WHEREAS, Dubuque-is uniquely the smallest city to support a Corps in the top 25
internationally, reflecting outstanding commitment and support from
our entire community.
NOW THEREFORE, I, TERRANCE M. DUGGAN, MA YOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE,
IOWA, DO HEREBY OFFER GREAT RECOGNITION AND APPRECIATION TO THIS
DEDICA TED GROUP OF YOUNG MUSICIANS AND VOLUNTEERS WHO OVER THE
PAST 36 YEARS HAVE REPRESENTED OUR GREAT CITY WITH SUCH POSITIVE
DISTINCTION. I ALSO COMMEND ITS EXECUTNE DIRECTOR, GREG ORWOLL, FOR

ranked as one of the oldest fifteen in the country; and
WHEREAS, during this past summer the Colts Drum and Bugle Corp has placed 12th in
the World Championshio Finals and in the past has placed in the top 25 of
over 300 corps for the past 12 years in a row and 13 of the past 15; and
