RE: Legislative Issues -- Historic Preservation
Dear Mayor and City Council Members:
At the January 19, 2006 Historic Preservation Planning Session the Historic
Preservation Commission discussed extending Commission membership to owners of
property in historic districts, with a majority of districts represented. The Historic ~
Preservation Commission also discussed extending referring appeals of Historic
Preservation Commission decisions to District Court instead of the City Council.
Both items are on the City Council's 2006 list of legislative issues.
By a vote of 5 to 0, the Historic Preservation Commission reiterates its support for the
City Council to continue to pursue the legislative changes which would extend Historic
Preservation Commission membership to owners of property in historic districts, with a
majority of districts represented, and to continue to pursue the legislative changes which
would refer appeals of Historic Preservation Commission decisions to District Court
instead of the City Council.
Sincerely,
~~~
David Stuart, Chairperson
Historic Preservation Commission
