Grand Opera House Letter of Support February 15, 2006 Mr. John Butler, President Grand Opera House Foundation 135 West 8th Street Dubuque Iowa 52001 Dear John, It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of support for the Grand Opera House. For many years, the Grand Opera House has provided the citizens of Dubuque with outstanding performances and it has served as a model for other community theater programs on how to provide quality community theater in a fiscally responsible manner. In addition to the many enjoyable performances enjoyed by thousands of people each year, the Board of Directors and the Foundation Board for the Grand Opera House have undertaken sensitive renovation and restoration of this historically significant property. The City of Dubuque has been proud to lend its financial support to these endeavors by providing financing for the restoration of the exterior factade. ~. It is my understanding that the Board of Directors and the Foundation Board for the Grand Opera House have now begun planning for additional interior renovation of this facility including a new elevator for improved ADA accessibility, interior improvements to the Foyer, Auditorium, Mezzanine and Balcony, as well as improvement to the Fly Space, Stage Lift, Dressing Rooms and Administrative Offices. On behalf of the City Council and the citizens of Dubuque, I am happy to lend my support for this very worthwhile project and support the efforts of the Foundation Board to seek grant funding to complete the necessary and worthwhile restoration of one of our community's greatest assets - The Grand Opera House. Sincerely, Roy D. Buol Mayor
