Port of Dubuque Watermain Extension Project AcceptanceTHE CITY OF Dui Masterpiece on the Mississippi TO: The Honorable Mayor and City Council Members FROM: Michael C. Van Milligen, City Manager SUBJECT: Port of Dubuque Water Main Extension Project CIP: 7402261 DATE: January 24, 2013 Dubuque kital All- America City II h/ 2012 City Engineer Gus Psihoyos is requesting acceptance of the construction contract for the Port of Dubuque Water Main Extension Project. The Port of Dubuque Water Main Extension Project was completed by Tschiggfrie Excavating in the final contract amount of $182,971.40. This is 14.1% over the original contract amount of $160,310.40. The extra cost is due to the fact that the water main grade had to be shifted to avoid rock. During the boring operations, rock was encountered. The bore pit had to be over excavated and the water main bored at a lower elevation to avoid a rock outcropping. I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council approval. hrit44 krt.,74, Michael C.
