Heiar, Economic Development Director SUBJECT: Enterprise Zone Commission Appointments DATE: January 29, 2013 Dubuque bitil All-America City 'I'll®, 2007 INTRODUCTION This memorandum recommends recognition of three appointments to the City's Enterprise Zone Commission. The City Council is asked to receive and file recommendations from the United Labor, the Long Range Planning Advisory Commission, and the Iowa Economic Development Authority for respective representatives to serve on the Commission. BACKGROUND The composition of the City's Enterprise Zone Commission is regulated by State law. Some commissioners must represent specific organizations, including United Labor, the Long Range Planning Advisory Commission and the Iowa Economic Development Authority. As Commissioners' terms have expired or vacancies are created by departures, the representative organizations have been asked to select or reconfirm their chosen representatives. DISCUSSION Attached to this memo are letters from United Labor, the Long Range Planning Advisory Commission and the Iowa Economic Development Authority requesting that Dave Baker, Richard Van !ten and Kelley Deutmeyer, respectively, be reappointed as Enterprise Zone Commissioners. Their terms will run until February, 2016. ACTION STEP The action step for the City Council is to receive and file the recommended representatives from United Labor, The Long Range Planning Advisory Commission and the Iowa Economic Development Authority to serve on the City's Enterprise Zone Commission.
