Proclamation Credit Education Week 6DB~E (~L_.. " r' --7""-"r'" PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the week of April 16-22, 2006 has been proclaimed "National Credit Education Week." Consumer Credit Counseling Service (CCCS) of Great Dubuque is leading the effort locally in trying to educate both young and old alike about spending, saving, budgeting, debt and keeping good credit; and WHEREAS, CCCS has a variety of programs, including the nationally recognized "Credit When Credit is Due" and the "Get Checking" program for people who need to get back into a checking account; WHEREAS, debt is a serious and growing problem in the United States. Too many people spend more money than they make, turning to increasing larger amounts of credit to make up the difference between what they have for income and what they are spending; WHEREAS, personal finances and credit are not stationary. More people are digging themselves into a financial hole that can affect their homes, their motor vehicles, their families, and their jobs. Education is a big key to handling life's lessons and the unexpected; WHEREAS, there are no guarantees in life, but life can be more comfortable and secure with good money decisions and planning. CCCS of Greater Dubuque encourages people to take a closer look on how they are handling "the financial facts of life," with education. NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA DO HEREBY PROCLAIM APRIL 16-22, 2006 AS: "CREDIT EDUCA TION WEEK" IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA.
