Property Damage
This is a claim in which the claimant alleges that his mailbox located in front of 6000
Pennsylvania Avenue was struck and knocked into the ditch by a City snowplow.
According to the report of John Klostermann, Street & Sewer Maintenance Supervisor,
records show that Public Works personnel were out plowing the day that Mr. McDonald's
mailbox was damaged. It is the policy of the Public Works Department that mailbox
repairs are performed by the Public Works Department. In this case, however, Mr.
McDonald made the repair prior to reporting the incident. After speaking with Mr.
McDonald, Mr. Klostermann stated that the repair work completed by the claimant was fair
and just.
It is therefore Mr. Klostermann's recommendation to approve this claim for $25.00 as filed.
The Legal Department concurs with this recommendation.
