Fwd: Demolition by Neglect
Dear Mayor and Honorable Council Members,
I would like to request your support to incorporate Demolition by Neglect into the Dubuque City Code for
Conservation Districts. I feel it is critical that there be a public forum to discuss the future of some of our most
important historic structures, and this would accomplish this. We all know that there are some buildings worth
saving and others that are not a critical fiber to our community. Conservation Districts allow us a chance to save
those structures for future use. Owners of these important structures should not be allowed to let them fall into
disrepair just so they can justify their demolition...There is too much at stake. Please support the Historic
Preservation Commissions recommendations and incorporate this important element into the City Codes.
