Proclamation_IPOST MonthTHE CITY OF DubE Masterpiece on the Mississippi PRO CLAMAT ON WHEREAS, all of us will someday die and most would want to be able to make their own decisions on the scope of medical treatment provided as the end of life nears; and WHEREAS, the State of Iowa has enacted a law that allows patients nearing the end of their lives to jointly craft with their physicians a document called IPOST - Iowa Physician Orders for Scope of Treatment - that will assure the patient's wishes are followed, and WHEREAS, individuals have the right to choose how aggressively to treat or not treat life- threatening episodes when they occur, and an IPOST document can speak to caregivers when the patient cannot, regardless of the care setting at the time of the event. NOW THEREFORE, 1, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE MONTH OF MARCH 2013 AS "IPOST MONTH" IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA.
