Proclamation KDTH's 65th Anniversary

PROCLAMA TION
WHEREAS, on May 4, 1941 at 1:00 o'clock P.M. KDTH radio station signed on the air for the
first time and now, 65 years later in 2006, is still broadcasting as a locally owned
and operated station; and
WHEREAS, Dubuque's Telegraph Herald newspaper owned KDTH Radio until it was bought by
Radio Dubuque in July 2000; and
WHEREAS, original programs heard on KDTH were performed live in the studios, including live
music (no records), live commercials and live newscasts; and
WHEREAS, technology has changed the way programs are now aired but the same
commitment to community remains as strong as it was 65 years ago; and
WHEREAS, on May 4, 2006, KDTH will be celebrating its 65th Anniversary! To honor this unique
and memorable accomplishment, City-wide festivities will take place throughout
the year including:
· Thursday, May 4, 2006 KDTH will be broadcasting from the Grand Harbor Resort
and Waterpark with the nationally syndicated program Agri Talk live from Dubuque;
and on
· Thursday, June 22, 2006, there will be an open house at KDTH studios; and on
· Sunday, August 6, 2006, a live "Big Band" dance will be held at the Grand River
Center; and on
· Thursday, October 12, 2006 KDTH will re-create a 1941 live broadcast with live
music, comm~r~ials, and news from the site of the National Mississippi River
Museum and Aquarium.
NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA DO HEREBY
PROCLAIM MAY 4, 2006 AS:
"KDTH'S 65th ANNIVERSARY DAY IN DUBUQUE, IOWA"
AND ON BEHALF OF THE DUBUQUE CITY COUNCIL AND ALL OUR CITIZENS CONGRATULATE
KDTH FOR THEIR PROFESSIONAL PROGRAMMING AND MANY WONDERFUL AND UNIQUE
CONTRIBUTIONS TO OUR COMMUNITY EVENTS.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand
and caused the Great Seal of the City of Dubuque, IA
