SUBJECT: Recommendation of Appointment of Examining Board Member
This letter is in response to the request from the Dubuque City Conference Board's need
of appointing a new member to the Examining Board. Pauline Joyce, who has now retired,
previously held the position on the Examining Board, representing the City Council voting
unit.
I am recommending that Dawn Lang, Budget Director for the City of Dubuque be
appointed to the Examining Board. Dawn Lang is a resident of the assessor jurisdiction,
has extensive interviewing experience, and has a thorough understanding of the property
tax system and assessment of property for taxation. Since the purpose of the Examining
Board is to interview candidates and make recommendations should an opening occur in
the City Assessor's position, Dawn would have the knowledge needed to conduct the
interview effectively and make a well-informed recommendation.
I respectfully request Mayor and City Council approval to recommend appointment of
Budget Director Dawn Lang to the Examining Board to represent the City Council voting
unit.
