Radios, 800 Mhz, purchase 2 5~~~E ~~~ MEMORANDUM April 24, 2006 TO: The Honorable Mayor and City Council Members FROM: Michael C. Van Milligen, City Manager SUBJECT: 800 MHz Radios As the City Manager's Office prepared for the April 13th Disaster Drill, communications was identified as a key issue. I am recommending Assistant City Manager Cindy Steinhauser and Public Information Officer Randy Gehl be equipped with 800 MHz radios since it is necessary that they are able to stay in touch during an emergency. They would be assigned talk access on the commons group and be able to monitor City frequencies (i.e. Police and Fire). Emergency Communications Manager Sandi Hutchcroft received a quote from RaCom for the purchase of two 800 MHz radios and accessories for a total of $7,302.30. Funding has been identified from savings from the Document Imaging project to cover the equipment costs. In addition, this request has been approved by the Public Safety Committee on April 5, 2006. I respectfully request Mayor and City Council approval to purchase two 800 MHz radios for Assistant City Manager Cindy Steinhauser and Public Information Officer Randy Gehl. l\i1ichael C.
