Greetings to all the volunteers, friends, and supporters ofIowa Sister States!
I have good news to report to all of you. After 20 years, Iowa Sister States (ISS) is
stronger than ever, ~.nd it is all because of the support we get from you.
2005 was an amazing year for ISS. We coordinated many projects, for example:
~ ISS brought former Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright to Iowa to participate in Iowa's first
ever Citizen Diplomacy Summit.
~ ISS- Terengganu Committee, with Drake University's Center for Global Citizenship, continued
groundbreaking dialogue by hosting the Islam In America: Finding Common Ground Conference.
~ ISS-Hebei Committee, hosted UNESCO artist Wang Di.
~ ISS-Veneto Committee, held the frrst-ever Italian Feast.
~ ISS-Yucatan Committee; for the frrst time sent Iowans to Yucatan to train Mexican emergency
responders in the use of91 I-truly helping the State of Yucatan to save lives.
~ ISS- Y amanashi Committee, hosted an official visit by Governor Yamamoto. Governor Vilsack
and the First Lady hosted all of us at their home for the frrst time as Governor ofIowa.
For the last 20 years, ISS has been changing the way citizens of Iowa, and other
countries, view one another and the rest of the world. We need your continued support in
order to not just maintain the status quo, but to increase our activity. Please consider
