The United States Army was established by the First
Continental Congress on the 14th day of June, 1775;
and
The United States Army exists to defend the freedom
of our citizens and our nation's security interests;
and
many citizens of Dubuque have served their nation
and given the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our
freedoms, as members of the United States Army;
and
it is proper to recognize the United States Army
annually on its birthday, and to thank those who have
served and those who are presently serving.
NOW THEREFORE, I, ANN E. MICHALSKI, MAYOR PRO-TEM OF THE
CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, DO HEREBY DESIGNATE JUNE 14, 2006
AS THE UNITED STATES ARMY'S 231st BIRTHDAY AND DECLARE
THE PERIOD FROM JUNE 12th THROUGH JUNE 18th, 2006 AS:
"UNITED STATES ARMY WEEK"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have
