Leisure Services Manager Marie Ware is recommending a staffing plan for the Port of
Dubuque Marina that includes a Marina Manager, Cashier /Clerk and Dock Attendant. I
have approved the job descriptions and salary grade.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this memorandum is to request staffing for the Port of Dubuque Marina.
DISCUSSION
I have worked with Westrec, our marina management consultant and Randy Peck to
develop the job descriptions for the two seasonal positions for the Port of Dubuque
Marina. Both positions would report to the marina manager. The positions are
Cashier /Clerk and Dock Attendant.
We have a general plan for staffing these positions however are finishing details to
determine the number to hire and hours. Yesterday we had two staff from Westrec here
to gain additional information and tour the Marina facility. They were both extremely
impressed by the facility and its design. They are working with me to develop staffing
plan that will assist us in setting this part of the budget. Their expertise here will help us
serve the customer yet cost control.
I need to get these out on the street to begin recruitment right away.
RECOMMENDATION
NA -23 is the seasonal salary grade for these two positions. This would be a range in
the current wage plan of $10.11- 11.73.
ACTION REQUESTED
I request approval of the positions.
