City Engineer Gus Psihoyos is recommending acceptance of the 2012 Drain Tile
Project — Indiana Court, as completed by McDermott Excavating, in the final contract
amount of $7,531.71, which is 20% under the original contract amount of $9,072.61.

INTRODUCTION
The enclosed resolution provides for the acceptance of the construction contract for the
2012 Drain Tile Project — Indiana Court.
BACKGROUND
The 2012 Drain Tile Project — Indiana Court provided for the installation of drain tile at
different locations to eliminate icing and algae build up from sump pumps.
In accordance with Iowa Code § 384.103 and § 364.12(3)(c), and Iowa Code, Section
26.14, on September 27, 2012 the City solicited informal bids for the 2012 Drain Tile
Project — Indiana Court. McDermott Excavating, Inc. of Dubuque, Iowa, submitted the
low bid in the amount of $9,072.61.
DISCUSSION
The 2012 Drain Tile Project — Indiana Court was completed by McDermott Excavating,
Inc. of Dubuque, Iowa, in the final contract amount of $7,531.71. This is 20% under the
original contract amount of $9,072.61.
RECOMMENDATION
recommend that the City Council accept the improvements and authorize payment of
the contract amount of $7,531.71 to McDermott Excavating for the 2012 Drain Tile
Project — Indiana Court.
