PROCLAMA TION
twelve year old Cory Bowman of Dubuque was born with part of his left arm
and with the support of his family and his own initiative, has turned this
physical challenge into an opportunity to set goals, participate in a variety of
sports; and live a full life; and
Cory is an accomplished pitcher and batter for the Edwards Pre Cast Team in
Dubuque Little League Baseball; runs track at Roosevelt Middle School; has
participated in the Dubuque Hockey League; and plans to play football this
fall; and
the International Little League Association has recently informed Cory that he
was chosen by his peers to receive the "Good Sport of the Year" Award out
of 2.6 Million (I) Little League players throughout the world; and
August 23rd through August 28th, Cory and his family will travel to
Williamsport, Pennsylvania at which time Cory will accept the "Good Sport of
the Year" Award and throw out the opening game ball as well as enjoy other
activities of the Little League International; and
twelve year old Cory Bowman of Dubuque, Iowa is a truly remarkable young
boy, receiving an exceptional honor, and who is setting a wonderful example
for young and old alike; and
Cory Bowman is a young boy with a dream and a commitment to continued
hard work so he can someday play high school baseball and then play
baseball for the Iowa Hawkeye's.
NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON BEHALF
OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, CONGRATULATE CORY
BOWMAN, HIS FAMILY, COACHES AND PEERS FOR THIS EXCEPTIONAL RECOGNITION, AND
HEREBY PROCLAIM THE WEEK OF AUGUST 23RD THROUGH AUGUST 28TH, 2006 AS
"CORY BOWMAN WEEK"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, AND EXTEND OUR VERY BEST WISHES AS HE REACHES
OUT TO CLAIM HIS DREAM.
