Buol and Members of the City Council DATE: July 27, 2006 RE: Claim against the City of Dubuque by Gerald Hingtgen Claimant Date of Claim Date of Loss Nature of Claim Gerald Hingtgen 07/27/06 07/22/06 Personal Injury/ Property Damage This is a claim in which the claimant alleges that as he was slowing down for traffic while eastbound on Hwy. 20 just east of the Hoffmann House, his handicap-accessible van was struck from behind by a City bus. Claimant's disabled wife was a passenger in the van. The accident caused claimant's wife and her hover-round wheelchair to be thrown to the front of the van. Claimant's wife had been secured in the wheelchair, and the wheelchair had been secured to the floor of the van. This claim has been referred to Public Entity Risk Services of Iowa, the agent for the Iowa Communities Assurance Pool. BAUls cc: Michael C.
