This is a claim in which the claimant alleges that as he was slowing down for traffic while
eastbound on Hwy. 20 just east of the Hoffmann House, his handicap-accessible van was
struck from behind by a City bus. Claimant's disabled wife was a passenger in the van.
The accident caused claimant's wife and her hover-round wheelchair to be thrown to the
front of the van. Claimant's wife had been secured in the wheelchair, and the wheelchair
had been secured to the floor of the van.
This claim has been referred to Public Entity Risk Services of Iowa, the agent for the Iowa
Communities Assurance Pool.
