Dear Mayor Buol and Council Members:
We ask you to consider ways to move the city of Dubuque into sustainable living within our
increasingly fragile environment. Global warming is now a certainty unless steps are taken
immediately to decrease carbon emission in the atmosphere. There are many ways that this can
be achieved as demonstrated in two recent video presentations in Dubuque. We ask you as
mayor and members of the city council to develop a comprehensive plan to reduce carbon
emissions in the atmosphere. We ask you to lead the way by using energy efficient lighting in
all city buildings and street lights; and to change building codes and other city regulations to
decrease both air and water pollution in our city.
We stand with you in your efforts so far and offer to support all the efforts that you make in
moving our city to embrace ways to save our environment. Our sisters have made a
commitment to find new ways to lessen pollutants in water.
Our city has shown leadership in economic development, in creating an atmosphere for growth.
We ask you to show leadership now to create and support a self-sustaining, renewable
environment for the future of our children.
Sincerely,
;'7
