Fire Training Sewer Fee payment D'G~~E ~<k~ MEMORANDUM August 2, 2006 ~ , , TO: The Honorable Mayor and City Council Members FROM: Michael C. Van Milligen, City Manager '_i.' SUBJECT: Dubuque County Emergency Responder Training Center The City of Dubuque is a supporter and beneficiary of the planned Dubuque County Emergency Responder Training Center being constructed by the Dubuque County Firefighters' Association. The City is contributing $365,000 for the fire simulator and $25,000 to connect to sanitary sewer. The facility is now facing a $4,659.70 sanitary sewer connection fee. The City has committed $10,000 to a relocation study for the Lifetime Center. The Lifetime Center has since merged with Hills and Dales and will not be relocating, providing a source for this $4,659.70. Van Milligen, City Man;~~ Gus Psihoyos, City Engineer ~ Fire Training Facility - Connection Charge SUBJECT: There is a connection fee associated with the Fire Training Facility on Seippel Road. This fee was established as part of the County Farm Interceptor Sewer Extension Project. The fee was established at $500 per acre. Since the facility is currently situated on 9.32 acres, the connection fee is $4,659.70. ACTION TO BE TAKEN Your direction is requested as to how to proceed. cc: Dan Brown, Fire Chief
