Dear Mr. Buol:
The City of Asbury is seeking the support of the City of Dubuque in the form of a
resolution of support for the Intersection Improvement Project to assist the City in
obtaining funds from the Safe Roads to School Grant.
The project will increase the safety of students who walk or bicycle to school and
increase the health of students by offering them a safer route to school. Furthermore, the
project will provide a safe environment for pedestrian traffic, and will result in continuity
and connectivity of bicycle and pedestrian trails in our community.
The City of Asbury respectfully requests the enclosed resolution to be placed on the
agenda of your next regularly scheduled meeting for consideration and approval. Please
return the approved resolution to the City of Asbury, 5080 Asbury Road, Asbury, IA

RESOLUTION NUMBER
A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR THE CITY OF
ASBURY INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City of Dubuque has been informed by the City of Asbury, that
plans have been developed for intersection improvements to be located in the
area of Roosevelt Middle School and the new west end elementary school to
promote safe pedestrian travel in the community;
WHEREAS, the citizens of the community can receive an improved quality of
life from completion of such a project and that the project will support
community growth;
WHEREAS, the project will increase the safety of students who walk or bicycle
to school;
Whereas, the project will support the regional economy, provide maximum
access to all recreational, residential, educational and commercial areas, promote
safety of pedestrian traffic, and promote connectivity and continuity of bike and
pedestrian trails;
Whereas, there has been evidence of widespread local support for the intersection
improvement project;
NOW, THERFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Dubuque, that we support the intersection improvement project.
ADOPTED BY THE GOVERNING BODY AND APPROVED BY THE
MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, this day of
2006.
