Whereas, the American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of
emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors; and
Whereas, the American Red Cross responds to disasters locally and nationally, providing for the
immediate needs of our neighbors and friends, near and far; and
Whereas, the American Red Cross of the Tri- States is the local chapter, serving the City of
Dubuque plus five counties in Iowa and the City of East Dubuque. With almost 130
volunteers ready and on call 24/7 in case of disaster, Dubuque -area lives have been
saved thanks to Red Cross training in lifesaving skills; and
Whereas, local military families are served through the emergency communications network of the
American Red Cross, and the local and national blood supply is largely safe and
available thanks to donors to the American Red Cross; and
Whereas, the 2013 Red Cross River View Barbeque — the annual fund raiser for the American
Red Cross of the Tri- States — will be held at the beautiful Alliant Amphitheater on the
Mighty Mississippi on August 15, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, ON BEHALF OF THE
CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE 15TH DAY
OF AUGUST, 2013 AS
"RED CROSS RIVER VIEW BARBEQUE DAY"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, AND ENCOURAGE THE CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE TO
PARTICIPATE WITH THE RED CROSS BY ATTENDING RIVER VIEW BARBEQUE, DONATING
MONEY AND BLOOD, OR VOLUNTEERING IN SUPPORT OF THE ACTIVITIES AND
HUMANITARIAN MISSION OF THE AMERICAN RED CROSS.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my
hand and caused the Great Seal of the City of
Dubuque to be affixed this 5th day of August, 2013.
