PROCLAMA TION
WHEREAS, the Irish heritage of the Dubuque area is an important part of the
community's character and identity; and
WHEREAS, the Claddagh School of Irish Dance is one of many local
organizations that celebrate Dubuque's Irish heritage; and
WHEREAS, an Irish Hooley is a traditional evening of music, song and dance
that for generations was the highlight of Irish social life; and
WHEREAS, the Claddagh Irish Dancers are hosting an Irish Hooley as a benefit
for Hospice of Dubuque, Claddagh Irish Dancers and the
Dubuqueland Irish for future Irish Cultural events in Dubuque from
11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Dubuque County Fairgrounds on September
24, 2006 -- "Halfway to St. Patrick's Day!"
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA
DO HEREBY PROCLAIM SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2006 AS:
"IRISH HOOLEY DAY"
IN DUBUUQE, IOWA AND CALL UPON THE PEOPLE OF THE DUBUQUE AREA TO
SUPPORT THIS CULTURAL CELEBRATION.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have
