Proclamation Disability Employment Awareness Month

PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, since 1945, the month of October, has been designated by the
United States Congress as a time to acknowledge the contributions
made by employees with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, in Dubuque, the Dubuque School District, Iowa Workforce
Development, Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services, Keystone
Area Education Agency, Goodwill Industries of Northeast Iowa,
Hillcrest Family Services, Four Oaks, Dubuque County Extension,
National Alliance on Mental Illness - Dubuque, and Area Residential
Care are working together to improve the quality of life for persons
with disabilities in Dubuque, and to enhance the public knowledge
about available resources to enable citizens with disabilities to seek
their potential; and
WHEREAS, Dubuque, these groups, in conjunction with area businesses and
other Dubuque community organizations, are working together to
recognize the value of employees with disabilities and their
employers through special activities.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA,
AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, IOWA DO HEREBY
PROCLAIM OCTOBER, 2006, THROUGHOUT THIS GREAT CITY AS:
"DISABILITY EMPLOYMENT AWARENESS MONTH"
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set
my hand and caused the Seal of Dubuque,
Iowa to be affixed this 18th day of
September, 2006.
