City Engineer Gus Psihoyos is recommending acceptance of the 2013 Leisure Services
Sidewalk Installation Project — Area 2 McAleece /Admiral Sheehy Drive, as completed by
Skyline Construction, in the final contract amount of $16,234.65, and authorizing
payment to the contractor in that amount.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

2013 Leisure Services Sidewalk Installation Project - Area 2 McAleece /Admiral Sheehy

BACKGROUND
The 2013 Leisure Services Sidewalk Installation Project - Area 2 McAleece /Admiral
Sheehy Drive provided for the installation of 600 lineal feet of five (5') foot wide
sidewalks, pedestrian access ramps and related base stone. All turf areas disturbed
were restored with topsoil and seed
In accordance with Iowa Code § 384.103 and § 364.12(3)(c), and Iowa Code, Section
26.14, on July 11, 2013 the City solicited informal bids for the 2013 Leisure Services
Sidewalk Installation Project - Area 2 McAleece /Admiral Sheehy Drive. Skyline
Construction of Dubuque, Iowa, submitted the low bid in the amount of $16,234.65.
DISCUSSION
The 2013 Leisure Services Sidewalk Installation Project - Area 2 McAleece /Admiral
Sheehy Drive was completed by Skyline Construction of Dubuque, Iowa, in the final
contract amount of $16,234.65.
RECOMMENDATION
I recommend that the City Council accept the improvements and authorize payment of
the contract amount of $16,234.65 to Skyline Construction for the 2013 Leisure
Services Sidewalk Installation Project - Area 2 McAleece /Admiral Sheehy Drive.

ACCEPTING THE 2013 LEISURE SERVICES SIDEWALK INSTALLATION PROJECT
AREA 2 MCALEECE /ADMIRAL SHEEHY DRIVE AND AUTHORIZING THE
PAYMENT OF THE CONTRACT AMOUNT TO THE CONTRACTOR
Whereas, the Public Improvement Contract for the 2013 Leisure Services
Sidewalk Installation Project - Area 2 McAleece /Admiral Sheehy Drive (the Project) has
been completed and the City Engineer has examined the work and filed a certificate
stating that the Project has been completed according to the terms of the Public
Improvement Contract and that the City Engineer recommends that the Project be
accepted; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. The recommendation of the City Engineer is approved and the Project
is hereby accepted.
Section 2. The Finance Director is hereby directed to pay to the Contractor from
the McAleece Sidewalks capital improvement appropriation for the contract amount of
$16,234.65 Tess any retained percentage provided for therein as provided in Iowa Code
chapter 573, and to pay such retainage only in accordance with the provisions of Iowa
Code chapter 573.
