Whereas, October 1, 2013 is the 50t" Anniversary of the United States Marine Corps League
Detachment 101 of Dubuque, Iowa; and November 10, 2013 is the 238t" anniversary of the
birth of the United States Marine Corps; and
Whereas, the Marine Corps League members join together in camaraderie and fellowship for the
purpose of preserving the traditions and promoting the interest of the United States Marine
Corps; and
Whereas, the Marine Corps League members serve those who have been honorably discharged from
service, voluntarily aiding and rendering assistance to all active Marines and former
Marines and their survivors, as well as other tri -state area veterans and their survivors; and
Whereas, the Marine Corps League performs military funerals for all branches of the military in order
to demonstrate their respect and support of all tri -state veterans and their families, and
Whereas, "Semper Fidelis" is not just a motto, but a way of life; and
Whereas, the United States Marine Corps League is a community -based organization that gives
assistance to the community, its veterans and its children.
NOW, THEREFORE, 1, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, ON BEHALF OF THE
CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE MONTH OF
OCTOBER 2013 AS
"UNITED STATE MARINE CORPS LEAGUE MONTH"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA. AND URGE EVERYONE TO JOIN THE MARINE CORPS LEAGUE
IN THEIR COMMITMENT TO THE UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS, ALL VETERANS AND OUR
COMMUNITY.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand
and caused the Great Seal of the City of Dubuque to be
affixed this 16th day of September, 2013.
