Ruden, 1020 Aspen Court.
.!! was moved Qy Daykin, seconded Qy Blocklinaer. to receive and file the letter
from Roaer and Patti Ruden reaardina noise problem from the Pet Park. The
motion passed unanimously,
Mr. Ruden explained that the noise from the barking dogs in the pet park is a
real problem for the residents on Aspen Court; he has not checked with any
other residents of the area, They cannot sit out on their decks because of the
loud and constant barking; they have to go in the house and shut the windows
and can still hear the barking. He said time of day is not necessarily the issue,
the location of the park is. The sound travels and bounces off the bluffs and is
extremely loud. Attempts to help the situation by putting up signs about
keeping dogs quiet has not helped; backing opening time up to 8:00 a.m. has
helped slightly, but there is still a major problem.
Mr. Spence said he is checking into other locations to re-Iocate the park
instead of just closing it, and in the interim period we could try shortening the
hours and the season; he will stay in touch with the neighbors on Aspen Court.

September 12, 2006 meeting

. Work has begun on Riley Park in Crescent Heights subdivision. The first
retaining wall is in and bids have been received for grading work; hope to have
everything completed by fall. . Work at Washington Street Park is going
pretty well. The playground unit will be installed next week; work should be
finished by late fall. . Still have some landscaping work to be done at A.Y.
McDonald Park; dedication is set for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 15th.
Park Division Manager Bob Fritsch shared the following information:
. The bank at Harvest View Park going toward Kitchen Funeral Home has
slipped quite a bit. Most of the storm water from the funeral home is coming
down that hill; working with Engineering to address the problem. · Starbucks
shop on the Northwest Arterial wants to adopt Harvest View Park. · We will be
removing overgrowth around the pond at Bergfeld in the next few weeks. ·
Tennis courts have been resurfaced at Murphy Park; still have parking lot
work and lines to be painted. . At Allison-Henderson Park some of the dirt
from the stormwater project is being put on the southwest bank of the park and
we will now be able to use riding mowers on that area, which will be more
efficient. . Individuals that used a pickup truck to vandalize an area of turf
north of the north gate at Eagle Point were arrested before they could flee the
scene, because they got a flat tire on their truck. · We will be removing an
additional Gingko tree at Washington Park that drops heavy fruit and creates
a really big mess. . Kathy Spear Landscaping has donated five small dump
loads of plant material, most of which is being used at Washington Street Park.
Recreation Division Manager Pat Prevenas shared the following information:
. August golf rounds were down about 7% from last August; season will
probably end up down about 9% from last year. · Pool attendance was slightly
above average for the season. . Family triathlon was successful - 55
participants; received good feedback. · Sutton Pool season ended with the
doggie dip on Monday, August 14th (200 dogs) and Flora on Monday, August
28th (cool, rainy day; only about 50 dogs). · Flora Pool was repainted this fall.
. The McAleece concession stand was broken into - start-up cash and all
boxes of candy were stolen. . Fall brochures have been distributed and
registrations are being accepted. · After school program and after school
sports program still need staff. · Fall softball has leagues on Tuesday and
Thursday and we have a Tuesday night outdoor dodgeball league.
. Mr. Spence told commissioners to let him know if they have any suggestions
for projects for the upcoming C.I.P. budget. · Last meeting fall golf rate
effective date was changed to the third week in September but the current 2 for
1 deal from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. is a better deal, so staff told golf pro to give
the better 2 for 1 deal. . Commissioner Hoffmann asked about holding the
May through September meetings in a different location other than golf course
snack bar - difficult to hear with all the activity in the area.
