Proclamation_Arts and Humanities MonthTHE CITY OF DubE Masterpiece on the Mississippi PRO CLAMAT ON WHEREAS, the month of October has been recognized as National Arts and Humanities Month by Americans for the Arts, the White House, Congress and countless communities across the nation for more than two decades; and WHEREAS, the arts and humanities enhance and enrich life in Dubuque today all residents through education, creativity and livability; and WHEREAS, the nonprofit arts industry also strengthens our economy by generating $47 million in total economic activity annually and by supporting the full- time equivalent of 1,550 jobs in Dubuque; and WHEREAS, the City has provided over $2.3 million dollars in financial support to Dubuque arts and cultural organizations through two grant programs and enriches the community through the public art exhibit, Art on the River, NOW THEREFORE, 1, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE MONTH OF OCTOBER 2013 AS "ARTS AND HUMANITIES MONTH" IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, AND CALL UPON OUR CITIZENS TO CELEBRATE AND PROMOTE THE ARTS AND CULTURE IN.
