DUBUQUE MUNICIPAL SERVICES CENTER . TELEGRAPH HERALD . WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2005
ADVERTISING SUPPLEMENT
Mayor's
Message
The completion of the City of Dubuque Municipal Services Center marks the
end of a 20-year process. The resulting facility is one of which the commu-
nity can truly be proud. I am pleased to report that the project was complet-
ed on time and the final cost is expected to be under budget.
The Municipal Services Center combines state-of-the-art archileclure, numer-
ous operational efficiencies and energy-efficiency measures, as well as aes-
theticol~ appealing design and landscaping. It is also important to recog-
nize the many Dubuque contraclars who partnered on this project and their
employees whose skills made it a reality.
The City's investment in this facility represents the community's commitment to
the vital services it houses: streel maintenance, sewer maintenance, four solid
waste collection services, street and traffic signs and lights/city Reel vehicle ~
maintenonce (including transit buses), riverfront/Roodwall maintenance, and
water distribution. These departments and the services they provide are crit-
ical to our community's infrastructure. .
The new facility will allow for the centralization of the Public Works
Department's and Water Distribution Division's activities, personnel, and
equipment. These workers, equipment, and materials were previous~ at
eight different locations. The new facility will also allow room for growth,
none of which was available, inside or out, at the previous Public Works
and Water Distribution facilities. If ever needed, the facility will also serve
as a community emergency shelter.
On behalf of the City Council, I invite you to attend-the City of Dubuque
Municipal Ser.:ices Center. ~pen House on Saturc!!ft! Oct. 1, from 9-1~1~\~.m.
for a taur of thiS great faCility. ) ~~ ~, ;,
