PROCLAMA TION
WHEREAS, the Iowa Great Places Citizen Advisory Board named Dubuque as one of its
Iowa Great Places last week in Des Moines after they made site visits to the
twelve finalists of the thirty applicants; and
WHEREAS, Governor Vilsack stated that the Iowa Great Places are truly changing the
landscape in Iowa, not in just a few cities and towns, but in communities
throughout the state, as they demystify government, combine resources for
impact and deliver results; and
WHEREAS, Dubuque's proposal calls for funding and technical support for each of the
Envision 2010 projects; and
WHEREAS, the Great Places application was compiled and presented by various
committed citizens from Dubuque including: Sue Czeshinski, Kelley
Deutmeyer, Dan LoBianco, Dave Overby, Meg Wall-Wild, Jerry Enzler, Teri
Goodman, Kevin Lynch, Nancy Van Milligen, Mike Van Milligen, Shannon
Gaherty, Phil Ruppel, Salud Federick, William Intrilligator, Peg Hudson, Jeff
Goldsmith, Katie Bahl, Gary Gansemer, Sr. Helen Huewe, Nicole Turpin,
Susan Henricks, Fran Henkels, Denette Kellogg, Mary Rose Corrigan, Laura
Carstens, Randy Gehl, Cindy Steinhauser and members of the Envision 2010
committees.
NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA DO
HEREBY REITERATE THE DESIGNATION OF DUBUQUE, IOWA AS AN
"IOWA GREAT PLACE"
AND COMMEND ALL THOSE WHO WORKED HARD TO ACHIEVE THIS SPECIAL AWARD
FOR OUR WONDERFUL CITY.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto
