Proclamation_Andrew Connolly Make a Difference DayMasterpiece on the Mississippi
PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Andrew Connolly Make -a- Difference Day 2013 is a huge local community
service project sponsored by numerous community partners, and
dedicated to the memory of a Dubuque armed services veteran who left us
all with the legacy to "pay it forward" in service to others; and
WHEREAS, this event has brought national recognition to the City of Dubuque by
having been previously selected as one of the nation's top ten exemplary
community service projects by the National Make -a- Difference Day Awards
Committee; and
WHEREAS, for the past six years this exciting annual day of doing good things to help
others has inspired over 2,300 local volunteers to touch the lives and
improve the homes of over 600 Dubuque households with assistance to
their elderly, disabled, veterans and low- income neighbors; and
WHEREAS, again this year, this project will provide targeted homes with weatherization
measures, energy conservation education and supplies, smoke detectors,
simple home improvements, yard work, home chores, and friendly and
caring socialization activities;
NOW THEREFORE, 1, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON
BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY
PROCLAIM SATURDAY, OCTOBER 26TH, 2073, AS
"ANDREW CONNOLLY MAKE -A- DIFFERENCE DAY"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, AND ENCOURAGE ALL CITIZENS TO PARTICIPATE
LOCALLY IN THE LARGEST NATIONAL DAY OF VOLUNTEER COMMUNITY SERVICE
AND TO MAKE OUR COMMUNITY A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE FOR ALL OF OUR
CITIZENS.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set
my hand and caused the Great Seal of the
City of Dubuque to be affixed this 21st day
of October, 2013.
