Funding was awarded to develop a service that provides faster bus transportation between the downtown and west -end transfers. This added service was intended to serve as the catalyst for broader system improvements. The two routes funded through ICAAP grant and the corresponding service changes will be presented. All proposed route changes have been drafted to reduce travel time and eliminate or reduce wait time between transfers. These changes have also been based on ongoing survey data collection from citizens and common service requests. Approval and public hearing are not required as there will be no reduction in service or increase in fares. Service will be increased in frequency and scope. These route changes are expected to take effect January 2, 2014, pending receipt of the contract from Iowa DOT. Funds for two years of service have been awarded which carry through three city budget years (FY14, FY15, and FY16).
