WHEREAS, Key Club International, which is sponsored by Kiwanis International, is the largest high
school service organization in the world, and is observing November 4 - 8 as Key Club
Week; and
WHEREAS, the members of Key Clubs of Dubuque Senior and Hempstead High Schools are part of an
international organization of more than 260,000 high school students dedicated to serve,
with purpose, children, their homes, schools and communities, seeking primacy to the
human and spiritual rather than the material values of life; and
WHEREAS, Key Club members promote the development of student leaders, positive role models,
intercultural understanding and cooperation, and opportunities for fellowship, personal
growth and professional development; and
WHEREAS, Each Key Club member contributes his or her time, talent and treasure to his or her
community and school each year; and
WHEREAS, the Key Club International Major Emphasis: Children - Their Future. Our Focus is designed
to involve Key Club members in the challenges facing young children; and
WHEREAS, Spastic Paralysis is the Illinois- Eastern Iowa Key Club District Project raising hundreds of
thousands of dollars for research and treatment of diseases and conditions affecting motor
nerves of the central nervous system; and
WHEREAS, the service provided by the Key Clubs of Dubuque Senior and Hempstead High Schools
and their sponsor the Dubuque Kiwanis Club have a positive impact on the Dubuque
community and our citizens.
NOW THEREFORE I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON BEHALF OF
THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM NOVEMBER
4 -8, 2013 AS
"KEY CLUB WEEK"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, AND CALL UPON THE PEOPLE OF THE DUBUQUE AREA TO
SUPPORT OUR LOCAL KEY CLUBS.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my
hand and caused the Great Seal of the City of
Dubuque to be affixed this 4th day of November,
