SUBJECT: Paint Ham House Trim Project, CIP Project #1212
Leisure Services Manager Gil Spence is recommending acceptance of the Paint Ham
House Trim Project, as completed by John C. Kaiser Company, in the final contract
amount of $35,830.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

SUBJECT: Paint Ham House Trim Project, C.I.P. Project #1212
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this memorandum is to recommend that the City Council accept the
Paint Ham House Trim Project.
DISCUSSION
The Paint Ham House Trim Project has been completed by the John C. Kaiser
Company in the final contract amount of $35,830.00. A summary of the project costs is
as follows:

The Fiscal Year 2006 C.I.P. budget contains $34,000 to paint the trim of the Ham
House. The City leases the Ham House to the Dubuque County Historical Society, but
the City is responsible to maintain the exterior of the building.
The cost overrun will be taken from the Eagle Point Park Stone Work Project unless
savings are realized in another CI.P. project during the fiscal year.
ACTION STEP
The action requested is that the City Council adopt the attached resolutions accepting
the improvement and setting the final cost.

RESOLUTION NO. 571-06
ACCEPTING IMPROVEMENT
WHEREAS, the contract for the Paint Ham House Trim Project has been completed
and the City Manager has examined the work and filed his certificate stating that the same
has been completed according to the terms of the contract, plans and specifications and
recommends its acceptance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
1. That the recommendation of the City Manager be approved and that said
improvement be and the same is hereby accepted.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Treasurer be and he is hereby directed
to pay to the contractor from the General Fund in amount equal to the amount of his
contract, less any retained percentage provided for therein.

RESOLUTION NO. 572-06
FINAL ESTIMATE
WHEREAS, the contract for the Paint Ham House Trim Project has been completed
and the Engineer has submitted his final estimate showing the cost thereof including the
cost of estimates, notices and inspection and all miscellaneous costs;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. That the cost of said improvement is hereby determined to be $35,830,
and the said amount shall be paid from the General Fund of the City of Dubuque, Iowa.
