Re: Status Report - 409 Burch Street
409 Burch Street is completed on the front (street) and north sides. Lacking on the front
is installation of the entry door and railing system. When meeting with John White in
October, he stated that he had the materials on hand and intended to install them within
a couple of weeks. To date, this has not been accomplished.
He has finished the new driveway on the south side of the building at Burch Street and
has completed some new stone retaining walls. This has been the work that has been
completed since the last report to Council.
The rear of the roof remains unshingled, with soffit, fascia and trim work incomplete in
several locations. According to John, it has been too cold recently to do much more
outside, so they have been working inside this building more often.
The work that remains to be done is the southwest corner and side of the home. This is
because John intends to install a wrap-around porch at this comer, which must be built
before the siding is installed. Further, footings must be dug and poured for the porch
foundation before framing begins. John's estimate is that the porch won't be
constructed until next spring. Accordingly, the white Tyvec vapor barrier will remain as
the presenting exterior of that side of home for the next four to five months.
According to a letter submitted by John White on Sept. 7, 2006, John stated that he
would complete the remaining work according to this proposed schedule.
1. Final installation of exterior door and last 2 windows would be completed by 9-
25-06.
This has not been completed.
2. Final installation of exterior roof, trim, soffit treatment and copper gutters by 10-
02-2006.
This has not been completed.
3. Final installation of exterior rails and other porch decorations by October 23,
2006.
This has not been completed.
4. Final grading of driveway and installation of concrete curb and drive. Installation
of decorative limestone retaining walls on the south side of the property by
November 6, 2006.
This has been completed. The driveway at the north side of the property
has not been hard-surfaced. Stone retaining wall work has been completed
on that side of the house.
