City Council, Special Session, December 19, 2006
Council met in special session at 5:30 p.m. at the Dubuque Greyhound Park and Casino
Present: Mayor Buol, Council Members Braig, Connors, Jones, Lynch, Michalski, City
Manager Van Milligen, City Attorney Lindahl
Absent: Council Member Cline
Also Present: State Legislators, Dubuque County Board of Supervisors, Dubuque
Community School Board representatives, and Holy Family Catholic School Board
representative
Mayor Buol read the call and stated this is a special session of the City Council called for
the purpose of discussing legislative issues.
The City Council, County Board of Supervisors, Dubuque Community School Board
Members, and Holy Family Catholic School System met with area legislators to discuss
issues of concern for the upcoming legislative session. Senators Mike Connolly, Roger
Stewart, and Tom Hancock along with Representatives Pat Murphy, Pam Jochum, and
Thomas Schueller, commented on what they thought would be concentrated on in the next
legislative session. They stated the primary issues would likely be increasing the minimum
wage and property tax reform.
There being no further business, upon motion meeting adjourned at 8:05 p.m.
