PROCLAMA TION
WHEREAS, on Sunday, January 14, 2007, our community will celebrate the
birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., beginning with a gathering at
Jackson Park at 1 :00 p.m. and a march to Prescott Elementary
School to witness the awards in the annual NAACP Tribute Contest;
and
WHEREAS, on Monday, January 15, the 15th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr.
Birthday Breakfast will be held at the Grand River Center at 7:30
a.m. with John-Paul Chaisson-Cardenas as the keynote speaker;
and
WHEREAS, Dr. King said, "Make a career of humanity. Commit yourself to the
noble struggle for human rights. You will make a greater person of
yourself, a greater nation of your country, and a finer world to live
in."
NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA
DO HEREBY PROCLAIM JANUARY 14 & 15, 2007, AS:
"DAYS OF GREAT CELEBRATION IN HONOR OF MARTIN
LUTHER KING, JR."
AND URGE ALL RESIDENTS TO JOIN IN KEEPING HIS DREAM ALIVE BY
JOINING IN THE CELEBRATIONS.
