Donations will be used to support the costs associated with working with youth under the age of 21 in Dubuque and Delaware Counties. During FY2006, SASC counselors provided counseling and educational services to youth in the following numbers: - School-based programs (grades 7-12) 476 youth - Dubuque office-based program 598 youth - Manchester office-based program 109 youth Alcohol co~inues to be the primary drug of abuse by our youth with marijttana and methamphetamine the second and third drugs of choice. Thomas Executive Director Enclosure SASC SUBSTANCE ABUSE SERVICES CENTER 799 Main Street 909 Wes[ Main SVee[, Suite 1 Dubuque, IA 52001-6825 Manchester, IA 52057 563-582-3784 563-927-5112 http://www.sasc-dbg.ors Substance Abuse Services Center (SASC) was organized in 1975 for the purpose of reducing the incidence of, and problems relating to, addictions in Dubuque and Delaware Counties. SASC is a not-for-profit agency governed by a volunteer Boazd of Directors comprised of citizens of Dubuque and Delaware Counties. It is licensed as a substance abuse treatment facility by the Iowa Department of Public Health. SASC maintains full-time offices in Dubuque and Manchester, as well as an adult residential facility in Dubuque. During FY2006, SASC provided services to a total of 3,682 clients and their families, an increase of 9% over FY2005. An additional 13,000 people were involved in a variety of community outreach and education programs. SASC's funding is a combination of state/federal funds, client fees, contracted service contracts, United Way contributions, and other donations. Clients at SASC are assessed fees for services based on a sliding fee scale. No one is refused services based solely on an inability to pay. Current programs and services provided include: 1. Assessments for addictive disorders including alcohol and other drug addictions, problem gambling, and co-dependency. 2. OWI assessments for those alrested for drunk driving. 3. Outpatient Treatment including individual, family, and group wunseling components. 4. High-Risk Youth Programming including on-campus counseling services at City of Dubuque, Dubuque County, and Delawaze County High Schools and Junior High Schools as well as our office-based Early Intervention Program for adolescents and their pazents. 5. Prevention programming, which includes community outreach and educational components. 6. OWI Offender Treatment Programs in conjunction with the Iowa Department of Correctional Services. 7. Driving Unimpaired Classes for Iowans arrested for drunk driving. 8. Gambling Treatment Program that provides a full continuum of prevention and treatment services for those experiencing problems due to legalized gambling.
