Jim Dixon called the meeting to order at 4:02 P.M. No previous meeting.
Agenda Item: Discuss making buildings solar ready.
Discussed making new construction and renovated buildings solar ready by requiring an
empty conduit from the electrical room or basement to the attic or space underneath roof. This
conduit could be used to wire solar panels on rooftops, instead of new piping in or outside of
the building. After some discussion it was decided not to pursue this. It was decided that the
solar companies should ask the builders to put it in for them on a volunteer basis and not a
requirement by the city. Motion to install empty conduit for future use. 0 Yes 5 no. Motion by
Bob Schmidt, second by Kevin Pfohl
Correspondence: None
Unfinished Business: None
New Business: The topic of HVAC contractors doing their own new electrical installations
was brought up. HVAC contractors have been seen doing new electrical installations for
furnaces, condensing units, and receptacles. Discussed how the disconnect/reconnect rule
was very clear and unless they are an electrical contractor, they should not be doing any new
electrical installations.
