Narrative Description: This two-story side gable frame duplex is the southernmost of five similar double-houses on Prince Street. It is somewhat unusual in that the rear wing is a full-two stories in height, but there is still the rear single-story centered wing with recessed corner or side porches. The core plan is 32 feet wide and 43 feet deep. The rear wing is 11 feet square. Only the north corner porch seems to survive (11 feet long, five feet wide), while the south half seems to be two stories high to the back of the plan. One historic difference is that the same half has a larger bay-like side porch that is set 24 feet back from the front of the plan. It has an angled wall entrance. Fenestration is largely full, particularly on the façade, where two shorter bathroom windows were likely added to what had been blank wall space, above the centered front entrances. Transoms have been lost, or were never present. This facade also retains its original 2/2 window sash. The north side wall has three openings on each floor and these are vertically aligned and set at the rear of the core house and on the back wing. The south side wall has a similar pattern with an additional second floor window in the southeast corner. The hip roof porch survives (20 feet long, five feet deep) but has lost its wooden supports, which are now metal lattice posts set on a concrete deck. The foundation is stone. There is a south end brick chimney. There is a double gable roof garage at the back of the property and it appears to be double-ended with doors on both ends. A narrow concrete driveway runs along the north side of the house to it. Early Assessor records note 20 feet by 26 feet garage, 35 years old. Also notes disappearing stairs in 2249 Prince Street.
