7. Narrative Description:
This is a two-story side gable frame duplex plan (32.6x28 with centered 24x16 rear addition,
and matching recessed side porches, 4x16). The plan is a broad one and contains 12 rooms (six
bedrooms). The foundation is of stone and asbestos shingles cover the exterior. A 1956 garage
measures 24x24. A full-width hip roof front porch is glassed in but not enclosed. End brick chimneys
are on each gable end. The roof consists of very early hexagonal shingles. There are arched
openings in the house, half of the house has hardwood floors and the attic is finished.
Fenestration is symmetrical. The front entrances are centered and there are flanking single
ground floor windows and four windows on the upper level. Endwalls have three windows on the
ground floor, two on the upper floor. Two attic lights are separated and the easternmost is aligned with
the windows below it. There is a single-story rear wing with corner porches.
The house fronts west onto Kniest and is on the northeast corner of Lincoln Avenue and Kniest
Street. The garage to the rear is accessed from Lincoln Avenue.
