7. Narrative Description:
This is a later side-gable bungalow that fronts west onto Kniest Street and which occupies the
southeast corner of that street and Lincoln Avenue. The plan has a shed-roof full-width front porch (28
feet wide by 7.9 feet deep), a hip roof centered front dormer and two north-side bays. The smaller bay,
with an unusual gable roof is small in scale, while the larger one, on the northeast corner, is almost a
wing, with a gable roof (14 feet in length, 4 feet deep). The core rectangle plan measures 28 feet wide
by 39 feet in depth. An enclosed porch (northeast corner) measures 14 feet in length and 8 feet in
depth. A centered rear porch measures four feet square. A garage, of equal date to the cottage,
measures 14 feet by 22 feet and has a small loft. The garage has two windows on each sidewall and a
sealed loft opening. The driveway exits to Lincoln Avenue. The older assessor records give the
house's age as 30-35 years, or c.1920-25.
The cast ornamental steps that lead to the front porch are of some interest and the porch remains
open, with brick sidewalls and columns. The,full fenestration of the front dormer is also somewhat
unusual, the frontage being completely infilled by four windows. The hexagonal shingles are of an
early pattern.

8. Narrative Statement of Significance:
The linkage of contractor Witter at the appropriate time makes him a likely candidate as the original
owner/builder. This has yet to be onfirmed.
