Brown, W &RRC Manager SUBJECT: Water & Resource Recovery Center Catfish Station Electrical Repairs FEMA DATE: February 11, 2014 INTRODUCTION The enclosed resolution provides for the acceptance of the construction contract for the Catfish Station Electrical Repairs FEMA and payment for the completed project. BACKGROUND Due to flooding in July of 2011 the Catfish Creek Pumping Station suffered serious damage to its electrical components. Short and medium term repairs were made to bring the station back into operation and the station has been operating successfully since that time. The purpose of this project was to complete the long term repairs to the system as agreed to by FEMA. The engineer's estimate for the project was for $132,482.70. The City Council approved the awarding of the Catfish Station Electrical Repairs FEMA to A &G Electric of Dubuque with the low bid of $71,950. DISCUSSION The Catfish Station Electrical Repairs project has been completed by A &G Electric of Dubuque Iowa and is operating as designed. The payment of $71,950 is requested to close out the project. RECOMMENDATION It is my recommendation that the project be accepted by the City Council and a final payment of $71,950 be made to A &G Electric. This amount is within the original contract costs. ACTION REQUESTED The City Council is requested to adopt the attached resolution accepting the Catfish Station Electrical Repairs FEMA project and authorize final payment of $71,950 to A &G Electric. Attachment: RESOLUTION NO. 36-14 ACCEPTING THE CATFISH STATION ELECTRICAL REPAIRS FEMA AND AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF THE CONTRACT AMOUNT TO THE CONTRACTOR Whereas, the Public Improvement Contract for the Water & Resource Recovery Center (W &RRC) Catfish Station Electrical Repairs FEMA has been completed and the W &RRC Manager has examined the work and A &G Electric of Dubuque has completed the work according to the terms of the Public Improvement Contract and that the W &RRC Manager recommends that the Project be accepted; and NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA: Section 1. The recommendation of the W &RRC Manager is approved and the Project is hereby accepted. Section 2. The Finance Director is hereby directed to pay to the Contractor from the FEMA 2012 Lift Station Maintenance CIP 6102073 for the contract amount of $71,950.
