The Zoning Advisory Commission recently reviewed an amendment to the Finley
Hospital Institutional District. As part of that review, there was discussion concerning
the access of ambulances into the new emergency department entrance along North
Grandview Avenue.
Commission Members noted that the intersection at Grandview, Delhi, and Grace
Streets currently can have a large line of vehicles during the morning and afternoon
peak travel periods. Commissioners discussed whether it would be of benefit to remove
on- street parking along the east side of North Grandview between 3rd Street and Delhi
Street. The facilities manager for Finley Hospital indicated that the people utilizing that
on- street parking generally are employed on the Finley Hospital campus. The
Commission felt that the removal of those spaces could help an ambulance get past the
traffic queued up from the five -point intersection.
The Commission did not want to make this a requirement of the Institutional District
amendment proposed by Finely Hospital, as Finley Hospital does not have control over
parking on City right -of -way.
The Zoning Advisory Commission's respectfully requests the City Council consider
removing the on- street parking spaces along the east side of North Grandview between
3rd Street and the intersection at Grandview, Delhi and Grace Streets.
