WHEREAS, Dick Kautz has served the citizens of Iowa as an employee of the Iowa
Department of Transportation for 36 years, and has served as District 6
Engineer for the last eight years; and
WHEREAS, Dick has contributed to the betterment of the Dubuque Community through
the following projects:
Final plan development and right-of-way acquisition for the US 20 Mississippi
River Crossing Project, which includes new eastbound bridge and
interchange at Locust Street connector;
Planning studies for traffic capacity improvements on US 20 (Dodge Street)
from Devon Drive to Peosta interchange;
Intersection improvements and traffic signal interconnection on US 20
(Dodge Street) from Menards intersection to Devon Drive; and
Planning study for traffic capacity improvements on Iowa 32 (Northwest
Arterial) from US 20 to US 52. Completed the extension of Iowa 32
(Northwest Arterial) from JFK Road to US 52;
Locationlenvironmental studies and preliminary engineering on the
Southwest Arterial, and the Restoration of the Dredge William M. Black as
Local Systems Engineer; and
Facilitated grant acquisition and street project completions for the America's
River Project in the Port of Dubuque; and
WHEREAS, Dick Kautz will retire from the Iowa Department of Transportation on
Thursday, February 22"d, 2007.
NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON BEHALF
OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY COMMEND
RICHARD KAUTZ FOR HIS YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE AND
PROCLAIM FEBRUARY 22"d, 2007, AS
"DICK KAUTZ DAY"
