SUBJECT: Secondary Access for Silver Oaks Estates Subdivision
Dear Commission Members:
At their February 7, 2007 meeting the City of Dubuque Zoning Advisory Commission
reviewed the preliminary plat for Silver Oaks Estates Subdivision located south of
Dubuque in Dubuque County. During Commission discussion, concerns were raised
regarding the lack of a secondary access for a subdivision of this magnitude. When
fully developed, Silver Oaks Estates and the other existing subdivisions in the area will
have 162 lots with a single access at Elmwood Drive and U.S. Highway 61/151.
Therefore, the City of Dubuque Zoning Advisory Commission urges the Dubuque
County Zoning Commission to facilitate Royal Oaks Development in obtaining a
secondary emergency access to Silver Oaks Estates Subdivision. Please contact our
City Planning staff for any assistance we can provide on this issue.
