INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this memorandum is to forward recommendations from the Cable TV Tele
Programming Commission to approve two requests for funding from the Capital Grant for
Access Equipment and Facilities.
BACKGROUND
The Capital Grant for Access Equipment and Facilities created by the cable franchise
agreement that went into effect on June 5, 2005, began FY07 with a balance of $199,630.
Subsequent interest payments and quarterly adjustments have added $28,665 this fiscal year.
Thus far in FY07, the City Council has approved $110,515 in requests; currently there is a
balance to be awarded of $114,738.
Last night the Commission recommended two grants from this fund:
1) $30,000 for new equipment and installation for the Dubuque Community Schools' Forum
Board Room. This will greatly improve the quality of their school board meetings.
2) $11,000 for a portable teleprompter system for the Dubuque access community. This
shared resource will improve production quality by helping polish on-screen
performances. The system will feature ahigh-brightness monitor for outdoor use.
RECOMMENDED ACTION
I respectfully request that the Commission's recommendations for both requests be forwarded
