Dear Pat:
The National League of Cities (NLC) relies on a strong committee structure to develop municipal
policy and positions on issues before the United States Congress. To ensure that NLC policy
committees reflect all geographical interests, the executive director of each state municipal league is
allotted a certain number of appointments to seats on each committee. The Iowa League of Cities'
allocation is four seats on each of the seven policy committees.
On behalf of the Iowa League of Cities, 1 have appointed you to serve as one of Iowa's
representatives on the Energy, Environment and Natural Resources (EENR) Committee. Policy
committees meet twice a year, once in conjunction with the NLC Congressional City Conference and
again at the NLC Congress of Cities. If you plan to attend either one, or both, of these meetings, you
may want to check the date and time for your committee meeting.
It is likely that NLC will provide materials on the committee from time to time
about ~s appointment, do not hesitate to contact me.
S cer y,
