WHEREAS, the goal of this week is to increase public awareness of the need to improve the
personal financial literacy of Dubuque residents; and
WHEREAS, personal financial education is essential for ensuring that Dubuque citizens are
prepared to manage money, investments, and credit wisely and responsibly; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago joins with more than 200 partnering
organizations in Iowa, to comprise a coalition of concerned professionals who
volunteer their time and energy to promote financial education for Iowa's
consumers to meet these literacy goals; and
WHEREAS, acquisition of financial literacy skills by Iowans will improve the quality of their
lives, provide them with skills for success, contribute to positive changes for the
communities in which they live and work, and benefit the economy of this state;
and
WHEREAS, this endeavor is worthy of support and cooperation for the benefit of the citizens
and consumers of the City to protect their financial future.
NOW, THEREFORE, 1, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, ON BEHALF
OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM
THE WEEK OF APRIL 5-12, 2014 AS:
"MONEY SMART WEEK"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, AND HEREBY URGE ALL CITIZENS TO FULLY
PARTICIPATE IN THIS OBSERVANCE.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set

of Dubuque to be affixed this 7th day of April,
