The Five Flags Commission meeting convened at 4:00 p.m. in the Manager's office at
Five Flags Center. Chairperson Cynthia Fuller presided.
Minutes of November 19, 2001 meeting were approved.
Cindy Fuller questioned what the meaning of agenda item "test agenda~ meant:
Commissioners discussed different explanations. The Commissioners agreed that
"test agenda" would be eliminated from the agenda and in place of "information
sharing" it would now read "new business/old business~.
Newest Commissioner Mark Nauman was introduced. Manager Wolfe asked him why
he wanted to be a Five Flags Commissioner. Mark responded that he has always had
a personal interest in the Center. He plays adult hockey, has season tickets to the
Thunderbirds games and a daughter in ballet. He spends a lot of time here for vadous
things. All members welcomed Mark to the Commission.
Dudng information sharing Manager Wolfe said that the Thunderbirds are doing
excellent. Three home wins this weekend. Last month was a very busy month with
Sesame Street Live and Marsville. This month has also been busy with hockey
games, a craft show, Hempstead's musical, Littlest Angel ballet and vadous meetings.
Manager Wolfe told the Commissioners that there is a photo album available from
different events as well as a media scrap book if anyone would be interested in
looking at. Dance Time that was scheduled for January 24~ has been cancelled. The
Dance Through Time company said they are showing a deficit and cancelled their
January tour.
Upcoming events will be Maynard Ferguson which is sponsored by Westem Dubuque,
Big River and Golden Glow. Cindy Fuller wanted Manager Wolfe to look into Big River
possibly puffing on another show dudng the day for schools. Manager Wolfe was
going to look into that possibility.
The Commission members, Manager Wolfe and Gil Spence then proceeded to review
the Commissioners duties and responsibilities as outlined in the code of the City of
Dubuque.
There being no fur[her business, the meeting adjoumed at 6:10 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Cynthia Fuller
